running the latest Firefox 3 release from Mozilla on 7.10?

At first it seemed whenever FF used totem to present and finish a video
or audio clip other applications like totem or vlc they could not
produced sound.  This also include another invocation of FF itself.
Basically to get around it I'd have to shutdown both FF and the other
application, then start the other application first to get sound out of
it. Later I found totem would also lock out sound to other application.
