Antivirus Question

I looked for a blog that I had read a while ago that debated Automatix vs apt-get, and described each advantages and disadvantages, sadly I could not find it. It was very interesting....
One of the main things that I remember from it is that Automatix made some installation seen like Windows, you really ddn't know what was going on in there. Some people rather troubleshoot the problem and learn from it. I am one of those :)
Guess it also depends on what you expect from installations......

Thanks. I did notice that when I used Automatix to install Azureus in the past the permissions got messed up on some of the directories/files so I wasn't about to change the configuration untill i found the directory and changed them.
Anyway thanks again for the input.
Cheers!

I've had it install some programs for me before, and still do. As long as it's installing something that won't be updated often( Google Earth, say), it doesn't have too many issues. Try and install something that updates frequently (Azureus) and you're going to have issues.
Or at least that's been my experience

Are there any serious issues with Automatix that I should be aware of? Like I said I haven't run into any problems but that doesn't mean I wont.
Thanks

yeah i'd stay away from automatix. installing clamav from repositories
sets everything up without totalling your system. automatix is a dirty
hack.
