I've always found that my printers (HP and Canon) are recognized right away
by any Linux distro. It's simpler to get them working under Linux than under
Windows.
Palm-type devices are another matter. I find JPilot is the most reliable. I
also find that I have to start syncing on my Palm and wait a couple of
seconds before beginning the process in JPilot. Palms seem to work better
with Ubuntu than with any other Linux.
