OK, I've reconsiddered.......

I still think we should do it. 

Why? Well I just hit "reply all" as the argument in this link suggests,
and as a result Daniel is going to get two copies of my reply. :-)

I tend to hit reply by default, mostly because other lists I'm on
already work this way. As a result, I think the chances of my posts only
going to the author will always be much higher then an intended private
post going to the list. My experience with lists is that is it very rare
that conversations go private. but it is not a big deal if you want to,
simply change the to field in your email client.

putting the "reply to" field in does not prevent a private conversation,
but it does encourage a public one. Isn't that what lists are all about?
