One thing to consider in all this:

Many Keyboards are very cheaply made. Industrial Keyboards are usually
made to withstand the elements. Industrial Keyboards may not always be
real cheap. Cheap Keyboards have Characters printed on them, that wear
off with use. Industrial Keyboards, usually have Double Shot Keytops,
where the Characters will never wear out. In some instances, with
Industrial Keyboards you have a choice in what metals you would like to
have used in the switches. This makes for very Expensive Keyboards in
some instances, eg Gold could be in use. Some Industrial Keyboards, have
a life Expectancy of about 20 years. Your Typical Consumer Keyboard
costing about $15.00 might have a life Expectancy of 3-4 months.

Digikey, does not bother you if you you are not someone that is
authorized to by from a Wholesaler, however there are many Electronic
Supply Companies, here in Canada, that may stock Cherry Switches, or
Keep stocks of Cherry Keyboards
