Yes, I also agree that you shouldn't have to go through all that trouble,
considering you're on dial-up. Ubuntu, and the Linux kernel, are way more
secure than a Windows machine. Also, the  fact that you are on dial-up also
limits any malicious attacker from getting onto your system.
