I can even confirm it for CDs!

While burning the system reacts as I wrote before. The burning itself
does not seem to be much slower at all, but at the process the burn
speed changed heavily from 0x to 60x or even more.

The worst thing I found is that the disk failed a checksum check (it was a ubuntu disk and the build-in check from the boot menu was not successful twice (two different burns of course and the disk was new at the first try and has no scratches yet).
-> Priority should be critical!
