Hello bug squad,

I'm John, and I want to participate in Ubuntu development. Reading through
the wikia, I felt encouraged to try out on the 5-a-day program. I've read
what 5-a-day was about very carefully, that newcomers should confirm new
bugs or link them to bugs from upstream trackers if possible.

Also, is it recommended for the prospective developer to get the latest
release of the next version for finding bugs? I'm thinking that the stable
release isn't the best grounds for it.

For instance, I stumbled on this low importance bug.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/882470

It affects oneiric, and I don't know if it has been resolved yet. In
precise, is it possible to replicate the bug?

To confirm the bug, must I replicate it first and see if the description is
suffice for replication? And how can I know if there is a bug similar to
this one, so that I may link it to the upstream?

Thanks for the help.

John
