Getting a patch into Hardy

Hi there,

There is a serious problem with software raid in Hardy. It leaves your
system unbootable as soon as the root array is degraded.

It is patched for Ibex now. But it's not patched for Hardy which is a LTS.

Anyone upgrading from Dapper LTS to Hardy LTS will be very surprised when
the root array degrades - and a trip to the datacenter will be necessary.

The bug is  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/120375

I tried to follow
* https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates
* https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports

I get stuck at point 4, where you are supposed to upload the fix. I can
not upload, and the developer who made a patch for Ibex, can also not
upload.

I am stumped to see that 'cheese' is in there, but mdadm/initramfs, which
leaves your system unbootable, is not
(http://people.ubuntu.com/~ubuntu-archive/pending-sru.html)

How to solve this riddle !?

Cheers,
ace
