Tried and failed.

I have wasted two days to find a way to install my nVidia AGP card in part
of enabling Compiz on my PC. The official release note of Ubuntu 8.10 says:

The 71 and 96 series of proprietary nVidia drivers, as provided by the

TNT, TNT2, TNT Ultra, GeForce, GeForce2, GeForce3, and GeForce4 chipsets are
affected and will be transitioned on upgrade to the free nv driver instead.
This driver does not support 3D acceleration.

series will be transitioned to the nvidia-glx-173 or nvidia-glx-177 package

compatible with CPUs that support

Here you can find another way, but practically I was pulling my hairs by
trying to follow this:

Don't thing after all of these 'হ্যাপা' installing via EnvyNG was simple.
After failing on three consecutive attempt than I found I need to upgrade "
python* " (sorry forget the actual name). After update via update manager,
then it worked. Wooh!!


Does anyone knows any easier techinique?
