[Bug 302247] [NEW] Please Backport HPLIP 3.8.7 or 3.8.10

Public bug reported:

HP has discontinued it's line of low-end Deskjets and replaced them with
new models that are supported only in HPLIP >=3.8.5

The new printers include the D2500 series and the F4000 multifunction
series.

HPLIP 3.8.2, provided in Hardy, will not print to these new models at
all.

3.8.7 in Intrepid will (tested explicitly on D2560)

I need to stay on LTS (8.04) and cannot move to 8.10

Is there any plan to backport 3.8.7 or 3.8.10 (submitted for Jaunty) to
hardy-backports?

NOTE: Normally in such a situation I would create my own backported DEB by simply recompiling the newer package on a Hardy system, but with CUPS package naming transitioning from 'cupsys' to 'cups' this is awkward.

Plus I think this backport would be generally useful/requested because
Hardy system, as LTS systems, will be in use for a while and these HP
printers are _very_ common.

** Affects: hardy-backports
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
