Network Scanning

Hi all.
I've got a smallish issue that I hope someone here can help me sort out
regarding scanning over the local network.
I have a HP Deskjet F2280 All in One device attached via USB to my home
server. I can print to this device without a hitch from both Linux and
Windows machines on the LAN and other locations (I've tried printing via the
'net & through a VPN). I can scan using this device if it's connected to an
Ubuntu (or Windows) desktop, but I can't seem to get my server to access and
share it properly.
I've got all the correct Sane backends running on the server - when I run:
# sane-find-scanner, the result is:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure
that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0, product=0x2404) at libusb:001:006
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported
by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
# Not checking for parallel port scanners.
# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
# You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you
# found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as
# necessary.
as it does when the device is connected to a machine running Ubuntu
Desktop. However, when I run:
# scanimage -L
the result is:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
When I run:
# sudo scanimage -L
the result is:
device `hpaio:/usb/Deskjet_F2200_series?serial=CN94F4T28V0534' is a
Hewlett-Packard Deskjet_F2200_series all-in-one
So, my question is, before I get any further in setting up this device for
network scanning how do I set the correct permissions for this device?
Thanks.
