Panel problems

Thank you, that's the first really good bit of information I've had!

I've removed all the panel applets and will replace them as I need them, I've already trimmed the start up programs, fingers crossed it'll be OK. When I restarted
the first time and tried to start Evolution, I had the same problem.  However, I restarted again and started firefox, and then Evolution - I'll see how it 
goes and then start adding the applets again.
