Many many thanks to Sridhar Dhanapalan  for your solution. You have no
idea what a relief this is.

Codecs have been tried, different DVD  programs had been downloaded and
tried, to no avail.

I really appreciate this solution and thank you again.  You ripper
beauty!  IT WORKS!
