No Sound on Dapper Drake

No matter what I have tried, there IS no sound in Dapper on my PC.
(Except when Signing in)

Whilst playing a DVD in WinPX , ( it hurts) a little green window
appeared with the name " Audio LPCM". Now checking 
in Google, there turns out to be a version for linux. Though Ubuntu is
not mentioned, but BSD is. Would this be a proposition
for download and installation in Dapper ?

There are toooo many techo details in it for me, so may I have your
opinions on this.
My Pc is a Asus P5LD2 and the sound thingy is a HDA Intel and --- the
sound test page does
not work.
