GDM hangs on Fiesty

[linley caetan]

running Feisty on intel 32bit hardware with nvidia prop. drivers.
All running good.
Adjusted to login window to show a list of users.
GDM then hangs. Black with spinning wheel of death.
Installed KDM and got up and running but prefer GDM if I can get fixed.
Same problem now on laptop- intel Toshiba.
Any Ideas?
