Some messenger protocols being blocked?

I am having no problems connecting to MSN, and never have had using gaim.
Just to make sure, set it up this way:
Protocol: MSN
Screen name: your_email_address at hotmail.com (or msn.com or whatever)
Password: your hotmail/msn password
Alias: can be left blank
