Hi Anthony,

I would recommend that you get a usb memory stick or external HDD,
boot up with the LiveCD, mount your /home partition,
put the USB stick/HDD in and copy your /home/ directory onto it.
Then, when you have a good backup, you can do a full reinstall.. :)
