The ipstar satellite modems that I have tried are routers, meaning that you
don't need special software to get it to run. The company I work for builds
Debian-based routers for satellite systems (amongst other things) like
ipstar, so it is definitely GNU/Linux compatible. That is of course assuming
that you receive the same type of satellite terminal that we use (you can see
a picture of one at http://www.activ8me.net.au/images/ipstar.jpg).
