I seemed to have created quite a stir among the community with my recent email
to Canonical, regarding the Ubuntu Australia LoCo Team Forum Thread proposal.
I must say, I was bothered by the amount of mild anger that some of you
expressed, no names mentioned. Someone, even suggested that in future I consult
the team before I contact Canonical on behalf of the team. Now, my email was
sent for my own information purposes and not on behalf of the team in the first
place. That is not my position to do that, so I wouldn't. If I wish to know
something or bring forward an issue with Canonical, I will. With ot without the
consent of the Ubuntu Australia Team. Excuse me if I sound arrogant, but I feel
that if none of us doesn't really push hard for the idea, nothing will ever come
of it.
Now that I have that off my chest, I thought that I would let you know of the
very friendly follow up email I received from Canonical.
The Canonical staff member thought it was a great idea and has no doubts that
the Ubuntu Forums Team would be more than happy to assist. He suggests I contact
the Forums Team and that I contact our Team Leader, Melissa, and gain her
support. I have contacted the Ubuntu Forums Team and awaiting a reply from them.
I will keep you all posted.
