Problem with installation.

Hello Robert,
hda is your Windows XP disk.
hdb should be your second hard drive.
hdc is one of your optical drives (e.g. burner)
hdd would be the next drive.
Which version of Ubuntu are you installing? If it is Dapper Drake (6.06),
you can go to a newsagent and buy any of several magazines which will habe
Ubuntu 6.06 on the cover disk. You can change to the next version from
there should you want to.
Once you have Ubuntu installed Windows will not know of it except in Manager
where it is recognised as an unknown format.
The buffer error looks to me like a burn error.
