Hello,
> -Tango was supposed to mix with Human, not the other way around
Tangerine is a tangoish Human theme that blend very well with other
Tango icons.
> -there's no 22x22, but 24x44 and 16x16.
Yes, but since KDE use 22x22, Gnome 24x24 are 22x22 plus one pixel
border.

See : http://bersace03.free.fr/pub/captures/dapper-artwork/compare-
human-tangerine.png . 16x16 tangerine icons are very clean and
readable while Human are juste unreadable (see home, desktop, disk,
ssh and ftp).
Even big icons are cleaner : see the network icon ("Réseau Windows").

See the 24x24/status/mouse-power-low.png , 24x24/places/desktop.png ,
24x24/places/gnome-fs-network.png , 24x24/places/gnome-fs-
server.png , etc. These icons are problematic. Other icons aren't
consistent with Tango.
> To avoid conflict, Human was wise enough to let Tango be its base.
Obviously Tangerine is based on Tango, not Human. Tangerine use
consistent color according to Tango specs. Human just herits icons
from Tangerine which herits from Tango. Tangerine is a tangoification
of Human which is mean to be mixed with Tango.

Human shadow for directory is better than Tangerine one. But than far
less important than readability and overall consistency.
Tangerine is also a great work done free of charge.
Definitively, Tangerine is far better than Human, just because its
goal is to improve Human.
Étienne.
