The bright background works ok here on my laptop. It is close to being too
much, but I guess that some people like it this way - but definitely not any
brighter :-). However, I'm a big fan of having the menu bg a bit brighter
than the ordinary bg, to make them stand out a bit. I haven't looked at the
gtkrc, but this does not appear to be used in your theme - the bright
standard bg also makes this difficult to do. This should be the main reason
for darkening the bg, imho.

I have also spent some time on the Blubuntu Login Splash:

First - the jpeg compression does not do your work justice :-) Espacially
the small logos look more blurred than they use to.

lsplash1 is good and fairly "standard", and would make a good candidate if
you want something not too special. lsplash5 is good in this regard too but
it appears that the white part on the left is not completely in fused with
the rest of the border.

lsplash9 has some kinda Zen-like tranquility to it. This is pretty cool
actually. That with a very light airy login sound might send people
meditating all over the place :-)

I am still without an original metacity for Blubuntu, so if you are

Sorry, but I don't have the time to help you out here, asmuch as I would
like.

About Icons... Do we have a green flag on the nuevoXT icons - for inclusion
I mean? Or else Tango would be cool too.

Cheers,
Mikkel
