submitting an app to ubuntu software center

Hi,
I'm trying to submit an app to Ubuntu's Software Center (a simple kitchen
timer, nothing fancy).
I received feedback from Ubuntu guys asking to submit it through a
Launchpad PPA.

I have no idea on what this is.

Do you have any tutorial on how to build a PPA?
