Is there any real advantage to using speech-dispatcher instead of palse audio?

Hi, is there any real advantage to using speech -dispatcher over pulse audio? I have had nothing but trouble trying to get speech-dispatcher to work in intrepid, and still do not see it in the Orca choices. So I would like to know if it is really of any advantage since pulse audio seems to work now.
