screen reader

Hi, I tried letting the system come up with out using the accessibility menu.
This time I got sound when it came up.
Then I tried to start the screen reader but still got no speech.
Maybe it is something on the cd. 
Anyway is there a install image I can download that 
will give speech during install.
This operating system looks like a good alternative to windows if I can get it to talk.
