Why shouldn't new stuff be default if it's better?  Not only can
rekonq work with slashdot.org (keeps the devs happy) it works with
GMail too (keeps everyone happy).  Konqueror will still be in the
archives if you want to install it, but what do you need from it that
rekonq doesn't offer?
