Running Intrepid here and as far as sound goes, pulseaudio is fine under 
KDE except for the occasional 'killall -9 pulseaudio' and 
'/usr/sbin/pulseaudio -D' when it fails.


Mind you, I have not seemed to have got my microphone working yet...
