Happens a lot when you anti-spyware and anti-virus programs. By
definition these pieces of software have to examine every other piece of
software on the system. Including scanning your entire hard drive at
first launch, scanning every file on modification, scanning your entire
registry, scanning pieces of the registry on modification, scanning
program's entire memory spaces.
This stuff takes CPU. Don't run it if you don't want to.
