Oh yeah, probably not. I'm just used to seeing a lot of PCs sold with
too little RAM and all that crapware.

Perhaps it's just the crapware running in the background?

One thing you will notice at the beginning is that the indexing service
is constantly running when it first indexes all your files. Eventually
that subsides once it gets everything (although it's quite annoying and
still slowed my computer w/2GB RAM and an Athlon 64 3500).
