I agree -- I know I have AT LEAST those two installed on a system, and
maybe kubuntu-desktop as well.
Just from my quick reading of the blog post, it seemed the
installation had problems, though I don't buy at least one of the
error messages as stated -- having a "directory not empty" shouldn't
make apt or the upgrade manager fail. I had plenty of non-empty
directories. It will move along to the next package just fine.
I would check other things, such as bad or insufficient RAM, corrupted
files on the hard drive, maybe even a package conflict in the existing
setup. I wonder if the old packages were way out-of-date. If so, maybe
the package manager itself needed updating (though if that's the
issue, maybe the upgrade manager needs to specifically check for it).
