Different projects have different goals.  There's little reason to
change your goals to match that of a different project, unless that
other project is failing miserably at their goals and you come to not
like your own.

Freespire's position is basically "make it easy, and within that, make
it free".  Ubuntu's is more like "make it free, and within that make it
easy".
