I agree in theory with what you are looking towards, however I do have
concern for it at this stage in Ubuntu's life. Promoting Ubuntu to the
'average' Windows user as an alternative (read 'not replace') product is
difficult already with most people instantly wanting to know does this
work or can I do this.

Unfortunately the majority of computer users out there don't give a toss
about computer software ethics. They just want a product that 'just
works'. Ubuntu touts itself as such a product that 'Just Works'.

I am not disagreeing with your rational I am more suggesting that if it
is to be done it has to be done totally correct and at a time when
Ubuntu can afford to lose a minimal amount of it's userbase in the
crossfire. It also needs to be done when we have a close to 100% easy to
use alternative tools for other OS counterparts, under the Linux platform.

We need to squash bug #1 first then look to being the moral leader for
the computer using community. There are always going to be neccessary
evils in this world, be it software or not, it's a fact of life. Ubuntu
is all about choice in my world, and hopefully people are making that
choice, and from what I see they are, slowly but surely.

Cheers,

Andy S.
