When I was in Seoul last year for a desktop conference, me and a buddy
from Xandros was able to roam around the huge COEX underground mall
and one of the most familiar devices you can find there are all-in-one
communication booths where you can surf the net, make a call, pay
bills, and whatever services they can think off with mobile and
telecoms in general. All of them are done in computer inside the booth
running Windows 2000 and 2 out 5 machines are either not running or in
BSOD....for a public terminal that is really bad for business. The
system actually shows the uptime on the screen and who turned it on
(from the utility company).
Would it happen if it used Linux? I have no idea, but putting a system
like that for public consumption is really a test on reliability for
sure.
