I have used Windos XP Pro a little myself and have also done several
installs for other people during years and quickly thinking I don't
remember one time when XP Pro didn't freeze when an application froze
(and I have seen quite a many application freezes in XP Pro). 

I remember one time when Ubuntu froze with a program and that was in
Warty. I have used Ubuntu already more now than I have used XP (and I
started with pre-Warty).
