VMWare Player?

This is the first I've heard of a VMware "player"[1].

Has anyone considered throwing together an Ubuntu image [2] for yet
another way to try it before "buying" it??

I have to admit to an ulterior motive: I can think of a million uses
for this at work, although my boss can't (which is why I don't already
have VMware, I imagine).
