systemd contained a readahead implementation until version 216. It got
dropped in 217 as nobody had maintained it for quite a while, there
was no evidence of it still providing advantage, and it's by and large
useless on SSDs.

That said, if we need/want this still, it can be resurrected. I. e.
the issue wasn't "it's known broken and we don't want it", but "nobody
cares any more".
