Hello,

My name is Thierry Carrez[1]. Please consider this my application to
become a member of the MOTU team.

I've started actively contributing at the start of the Intrepid cycle,
and now that I have witnessed an entire cycle, I feel I'm ready to join
the MOTU team. My friendly sponsors also pushed me to apply, which is
usually a good sign ! I tried to make sure I covered all aspects of
package maintenance: sync, merges, package updates, fixes, SRUs,
security updates, forwarding to upstream...

As a Server developer at Canonical, I have to interact with lots of
packages in main, however I've always considered maintaining universe
packages as an integral part of my job. As an example, even if I
packaged and maintain tomcat6 in main, I also fixed the bugs in
tomcat5.5 (which is in universe) and pushed the corresponding SRUs.

For the Jaunty cycle in universe, I intend to handle merges, update the
SBLIM CIM package stack and overseeing the creation of the Java packages
needed to implement MavenSupportSpec[2] by providing adequate advice,
training sessions and sponsoring to all those interested in
participating. I also want to approach the repository from a quality
perspective: take existing packages and fix them so that they work as
expected in the most common cases.

I'd like to thank all my sponsors, who helped me reach an honorable 50th
place in the Intrepid top uploaders list[3], in particular:
- - James Westby
- - Mathias Gug
- - Alexander Sack
- - Chuck Short
- - Daniel Holbach
- - Dustin Kirkland
- - Jamie Strandboge

and all the others who provided good advice and insights, you know who
you are :)

Thanks for your consideration,
