MOTU Application For David Futcher (bobbo)

Dear MOTU Council,

Please accept this as my application for MOTU status in Ubuntu.

I first started my Ubuntu journey in January 2008 and worked through the
latter half of the Hardy cycle and the whole of the Intrepid cycle. Most
of my work has been in universe/multiverse, but I also have several
uploads in main/restricted.

I started working on small bugfixes like missing manpages and incorrect
descriptions in order to gain experience about Ubuntu development, but
then moved on to work primarily with merging and syncing with Debian,
where most of my Intrepid work was done. QA activities are another
important field of interest, where I am particularly interested in FTBFS
and library transitions.

I wish to gain upload rights to Universe as doing QA often involves
no-changes-rebuilds or small changes to a package, and going through the
sponsorship process is often very slow, which stops me working on more
packages.

Outside of MOTU I have participated in Ubuntu Open Week and Ubuntu
Developer Week, on both occasions presenting sessions on Bazaar VCS. I
am also developing a small tool to help prospective Ubuntu developers
keep track of their uploads and sponsors [0]. I aim to keep developing
this and try to promote its use in the mentoring project.

I do not currently maintain any packages in Debian (the functionality of
the Bzr plugin I submitted for review was implemented into the Bzr core,
rendering the package useless), but I am in the process of packaging
another application.
