hm... this (together with watching MC lists) gives me a little bit the feeling
that the application process works the following:
1. application is sent in
2. sponsors will give feedback
3. once feedback is there, MC casts a vote
Now, this gives MC a very passive role, which I think is a big problem here.
Imho once an application was made, it's the responsibility of MC to take care
of it and follow up, not just to wait on feedback.
Also it somehow means that MC is unable to progress, in case there's no
feedback from sponsors. How about asking questions to the applicant, or if
still in doubt reviewing sample bits of his contributions?
Finally, I think it's very important, to give feedback on an application in a
short time, as silence creates the impression that the application has
stalled. One of the simplest thing to do is to ping the sponsors on the list,
if there hasn't been any feedback beforehand. At least that way it gives the
impression that someone is taking care for the application.
Cheers,
Stefan.
