In addition to my 50 hour a week job in real life, and raising 4 children, I
would like to be considered for the MOTU team!
By profession, I run a farm store (yes, you read that right). It's hard work,
but a lot of fun. I have never had a tech job, and I don't know if I want
one. Most people like to fish, golf, or any other number of things as hobbies.
As for me, my hobby is Linux (specifically K/Ubuntu Linux). In addition to
running that ol' farm store, I have a wonderful wife of 10 years, and 4
terrific kids (with one on the way).
I have been a very small part of Ubuntu for over 3 years now, having spent my
time in various parts of the community. For some time, I've had the goal of
becoming a MOTU. With a few frustrating starts/stops, I decided to "sink my
teeth in" early in the Hardy cycle, and do the little bit I could to learn my
way around packaging. For shame, I didn't start keeping track of my
contributions for a while, so some the early work is not listed or recorded
anywhere. I can say that Emmet sponsored several of my early packages, and I
had great quality feedback from him. He really showed me how the whole
process works (Thanks a million Emmet!).
As for packages I am fond of, I'll start with chm2pdf.
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chm2pdf
This was my first package accepted into Ubuntu. I learned quite a bit about
packaging with python apps. This package is now maintained in Debian, and is
synced with every bugfix or new upstream.
Another package I have done quite a bit of work with is ktorrent-kde4.
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ktorrent-kde4
This was one of the first kde4 packages I did. I have been working closely
with John Dong on each revision and upstream release. Ktorrent and Ktorrent-
kde4 will be merging for the 8.10 release, the package merge is awaiting
sponsorship on Launchpad.
I really like kdiamond-kde4, it's very addictive
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdiamond-kde4
This was my first FeatureFreeze exception package. With this package, I
learned how the Feature Freeze Exception process works. This is now part of
the kde-games meta-package as kdiamond.
I am also proud of keruocalc-kde4.
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keurocalc-kde4
It's the first multi-binary package I made from scratch. This package along
with lemonpos-kde4 are in the works to be migrated from the -kde4 package
name.
Along with these, I've had a couple of packages sponsored into Debian.
pdf2djvu and trash-cli (trash-cli was just uploaded today). The new upstream
of pdf2djvu and the initial release of trash-cli will be synced once they are
available in Sid.
Throughout the remainder of this cycle, I will continue to help the fabulous
Kubuntu team get the 8.10 release ready to be the best one ever! I will
continue to look for new apps to package, which is always fun to do. I also
plan on joining the Ubuntu Universe Sponsors team, and doing several reviews a
week. I also plan on helping in the MOTU-Torrent team. Most of all, I look
forward to continuing to learn and grow with the best development team in the
world.

Thanks for your consideration.
