Maybe we're reading this thread differently. What I've taken away from
it so far is that some people noticed that Till did something that
strictly speaking is against our rules, and as such shouldn't become
core-dev (or perhaps even lose his MOTU privileges).

He's clearly demonstrated that he knows that it strictly was against the
rules. At the very same time, he clearly demonstrated that he knows how
the development cycle works. He also demonstrated that he cares about
the quality of Ubuntu.

On top of that, he's going a really good job.

That's the point, really. The more I think about it, the less I consider
it a mistake. :)
