IBUS Keyboard input issue might force us to abandon Lubuntu

Hello everyone,

I recently sent out an email concerning a problem we have been having in our labs while using the Google Chrome browser. When you open the browser and type something in, the keyboard stops responding after several keystrokes and you are forced to close the browser. The problem only occurs using Google Chrome or Chromium. All other browsers seem to work fine.

As I mentioned this is a big problem for us since we are a GAFE school board. (Google Apps for Education).

I did some research and found a temporary solution that involved changing the Keyboard input method from IBUS to none. This essentially resolved the issue in the browser but also caused another problem in that we are now unable to switch our keyboard from English to French. We are a bilingual school board so French is a must.

I found this thread that shows that this is a known issue that is still not resolved and it seems to impact anything based on Ubuntu 14.4.

Unless I can find a solution for this quickly I will be forced to stop using Lubuntu and look for another distribution that is not affected by this bug.

We are using Lubuntu 14.4.1.

Your help would be greatly appreciated
