When the boot stops? Is there some error on the screen? Have you tried
to run it in recovery mode or in text mode and starting the X
manually?

I do not understand. Also Chromium is updated using the repo (unless
you add a PPA) and is shipped without addons by default. Furthermore
if you use livecd only you can't permanently update the OS or add any
addons to any browser, so I don't see why the end-of-support or no
addons are problems for you.
