Hi,
Another option is the recovery mode.
Boot into it, acces your home folder and move your .config to another
location... I usually do something like:
mv ~/.config ~/configbackup
mv ~/.cache ~/cachebackup
reboot
You can then recopy your important folders back (like mozilla for your
bookmarks, etc....)
