OBI and the FLDT

Clonezilla caught my eye quite a while ago, but quickly faded. OBI seems
to be, as Nio said, more flexible. The FLDT story is quite an
interesting read though. See Welcome to the Laptop Machine on the PM
Technology Blog here http://www.pennmanor.net/techblog/?cat=69 If we get
even 1/8 as many computers as these guys, I will be trying OBI on "for
size."

Hey OBI crew, I just came across this
https://github.com/pennmanor/FLDT
and wondered if you could use any of their code to help in your project.
It seems (on the surface) to be used for the same purpose, imaging lots
of computers quickly, though it may be entirely different.
Hopefully it can be of some use

Hi Israel,
Thanks for the tip, it is quite interesting
FLDT uses Partclone, which is also used by Clonezilla for cloning /
imaging. It is a good tool, but not as flexible as tar, that is used in
the OBI. It is not possible to install into a smaller device or
partition than the master, from which the image was made. But it is
certainly a working method.
Maybe I can have a closer look at it to find out if there are some
methods that could be 'borrowed' to the OBI.
Best regards
Nio
