Name of icon theme in Customize Look and Feel

In Lubuntu 12.10, I have ~/.themes and ~/.icons.

I copied /usr/share/themes/Lubuntu-default to ~/.themes, I then renamed the
folder from Lubuntu-default to NewLubuntu-default so that I know which is
which. And this change is visible in the Widgets tab of Customize Look and
Feel (widget.png). No problem here.

However, I don't seem to be able to do the same for the icon theme. I
copied over /usr/share/icons/lubuntu to ~/.icons and renamed it from
lubuntu to Mylubuntu. But when I look in the Icon Themes tab of Customize
Look and Feel, I see two entries of "Lubuntu Box" (icon.png). No doubt I
can figure out which is which, user versus system, by trial and error but I
want to know if there's a better way of doing things so that the the icon
theme located in ~/.icons has a different name in Customize Look and Feel.

(I logged out and back in to see if it helps but it doesn't.)
