Problem with upgrade of Lubuntu 11.10 to 12.04

After successfully re-installing qjackctl (and two other packages it
depended upon), it did restore my MIDI development capability, but the
machine was clearly in a partly-upgraded state.
I later (through partial upgrades) managed to successfully complete the
upgrade, and this time it didn't try to make qjackctl obsolete.
I think I will try upgrading what used to be my primary Lubuntu (11.10)
partition, and carefully document if it tries to make qjackctl obsolete.
If it does, I will work for a resolution of that problem.
