Parcelite was the clipboard manager that was removed and didn't cause any problems when it was part of the distro.
TBH, I didn't realise any other distro was different to Lubuntu in this respect, I thought the contents of the clipboard always disappeared when the app was closed.  I'm sure this is how it used to be, for security reasons.

So, what controls copy/paste.  I assume the data is kept in a buffer some where and the closure of the app causes this buffer to be emptied.  Is it a simple(ish) matter to stop this behaviour?
