That's why I don't use XFCE if you want my 2 cents. :)
That's unfortunate that they don't use gsettings, using XFCE or XFCE
programs means having two configuration databases. That sucks. :)

I've built my own Desktop, I started to use a library but in the end, I
had to do so much changes in it that I had to fork it, otherwise that
would be totally impossible.

It's great to have a library but you need to learn it's particular
functions and if you need a different way than the one that is
implemented, it's dead.

The granite library is very interesting though. :-P

Anyway, you can try to create a library, you'll see if you have
interesting Widgets in it, or not.
